Low performance may not always mean slow reception to being a slow-learner but might as well be because of the recession and the great amount of stress it gives to families as well as their students.

The previous data which indicated high school pressure and stress is now at decline rate compared to the levels of emotional and mental stress encountered by most students in college.

The American Freshman: National Norms Fall 2010, which involves incoming full time students at four year colleges nationwide showed a downfall in emotional health of students from 64 percent into 52 percent. Annually, women has degrading positive outlook on emotional health compared to men and continues to widen.

Today’s college students are like schooling parents – worrying too much on how to pay college, cope with their debt, and distracted by their parent’s unemployment. The recession has been the major cause of emotional problem with regards to students.

Brian Van Brunt, Western Kentucky University director of counseling, have been seeing such problem a while and said that student step on their campus with problems, need for economic support, and loans are putting too much weight on them as they hope for a career which will lift their status in the future.

Students are also pressuring themselves by aiming high and the determination to be successful while their emotional health declines, their academic will is set to burning up. At age of 15 or 16, they are thinking of earning an MBA degree as the only way to have a successful career.

Definitely this generation is becoming very competitive with students fired up with the will of staying on top. The consequence is low mental and emotional health brought by enormous pressures internal and external in nature. Are we going the right way? Or will this set of graduates become robot like successful individuals?

We always have the perspective of business being carried through for profit. Well, such ideology has existed for centuries. But did you ever thought business operated for the welfare of humanity or somehow what is termed as —social enterprise.

For one fact, most business schools have designed education programs to create business leaders of tomorrow—of which can generate the greatest profit. Though, it is an obligation for enterprises to submit into corporate social responsibility. The vision have been realized and proved by the ever-growing commercial world with the rise of various multinational companies around the world.

However, the obligation of helping humanity had become and – option – instead of being an obligation. Excluding entities which proved to be not delinquent of their social responsibilities, many have even pushed limits and abused consumers by offering quality-less products and vague services.

This gave rise to many social entrepreneurial schools. Such as the masters degree program of Hult International Business School – aimed for social responsibility instead of profit. The degree program in social entrepreneurship is founded with the idea that “social problems can be resolved in a manner – similar to business problems are to be solved”.

The master degree is inspired with Hult Global Case Challenge – an organized competition bringing all the brightest business students with the goal of creating and introducing global solutions as well as innovative ideas.

Basically, the competition is all student-led without any support from any business schools and entities; this inspired third and second parties to donate their time and energy in carrying out the “One Laptop per Child” program—which in return proved that today’s business students are more socially aware than their forerunners.

On the other hand, the college degree program is just a one-year project. Tony Sheldon, who runs a program in Yale’s School of Management, pointed that the idea existed since 1976. SOM has been a magnet for students seeking careers in the non profit sector. However, the risk of commercializing – social entrepreneurial – is at hand rather than the expression of its purpose.

College marketing is indeed a vital strategy in keeping school admission healthy. Colleges and universities take advantage of this mutual understanding among prospective students. This is a must for educational institutions to promote their services, rank high in college rankings, and brag developments on education programs.

Kindergarten, K-12, and higher education entities market their programs in different ways. Traditional methods include scholarship grants, tuition fee discounts, new courses, financial assistance, and shows. Again, this part of education business is considered legal and vital to the commercial industry.

However, there are studies suggesting that too much marketing is not good for the students. Primarily, the goal of many schools worldwide is to target a pool of students bringing in the message they want to communicate; sparking hope that they would get admitted on their university. There can be problem with the intention of filling up the classrooms seats.

But when over marketing happens, the risk of rejecting a multiple number of aspirants is on the way. Of course, educational institutions will not allow excess enrollment but if the marketing strategy works too well, where could this students enroll now if they get rejected? Though students will not be harmed physically, but deep down psychologically, the effect of rejection can be devastating to all of the students.

A survey conducted on private four-year institutions showed a $2,000 marketing cost on every student they enrolled while a majority of the others are getting rejected. Being told not well enough is something universities should consider before marketing too much.

So how can students avoid the degrading trap of over marketing?

Do not immediately believe all the information on the brochure rather conduct a personal research and even do a campus visit to be sure. When receiving many emails, do not expect to be on the admission list perhaps there are a lot of elites out there receiving the same loads of email. Last thing, consider some outstanding college and universities out there which will not reject you but as well welcome you with open arms.

How important is continuing education for adults? Many mid life citizens are afraid to go back to school because of the age gap— a serious problem for aspiring adults in their quest for education.

There is so much opportunity for an adult out in the world. Traditionally, companies prefer younger employees aging from 21-30, but there are entities which put trust on hiring adult employees because of some factors such as determination and maturity of adult individuals. Japan is one example, wherein seniors are treated with much respect when it comes to the managerial ladder.

To make sense, education is not too young for adults. Cooking lessons to masonry are offered by continuing education schools all over the state. Primarily, the mission of these educational entities is to provide quality training for adults improving vocational skills.

On the other hand, universities worldwide offer one of a kind adult education program. And inclusively, more adults are enrolled in online degree program of these traditional schools compared to everyday students.

Online degree universities also take a large portion of the adult student population. In Western Governors University, a premiere competency based online university; over half of the students are adult learners.

This proves that education has no age bracket and all can benefit from different education programs. Online programs provide adult learners with the flexible schedule they needed. The very reason many adults are into the online format of education.

Adults willing to enroll into flexible adult education programs can search down the internet and look for school offerings. A college directory might also work when looking for an online college. The cost of education may not be as expensive as premiere universities charge but could depend on the reputation and facilities of the institution. Moreover, if an adult wants free education courseware, the Sloan Consortium, Yale, and M.I.T distributes resources in different subjects.

In shaping one’s career, education is the most significant tool to consider. Through the career path his exploring he’s been able to help many students more devoted on their choices about their college mobilization. This is how important is education to people who want to determined the career path they want to pursue on the subject of their colleges education.

Very much dissimilar to those from old times, their way of education is much more static before. They look for a counselor’s advice because their most concepts are to find a career advice which was nearly unthought-of. Today, the career education actually is very necessary to go for because this can be the most helpful method if you want to progress your career. Without a career learning alternative might deficiently affect major harm to your career in the future.

As an example, recently, a number of executives who have unsuccessfully taken care of their career education have taken in belatedly accepting that they have failed as career builders. It is factually sad to think that after a long time of struggling just to acquire things for the best of your career, regrets just simply come to their door telling them they have not rationalized themselves. Majority who came up to this kind of situation were those who thought they felt not needing anymore to learn and haven’t think it mattered in terms of making advancement in their careers.

Career education is at the same time a real hard work. Some people deal with their trainings during after they work or through presential night courses.

Many have exhausted their energy, time, and resources just to earn a teaching degree to become full time teachers. Definitely, teaching is a noble profession and the schools worldwide need a lot of quality teachers for their education programs.

However, the wheels are on the 180 degree as federal budget cuts have laid off teachers in many school districts—worse as the next school year commence. Does this mean the teachers degree earned will be put aside? This is a great concern for most teachers like you. How would you support your family then?

The answer is alternative teaching careers and occupations. Teaching is not limited to the four walled classroom and teaching careers are not dependent on the university or the government as well. Alternative teaching jobs takes the teacher into a different working environment—and more likely develop the teacher’s potentials. The following jobs are considered as alternative teaching careers.

•	Adult education instructor
•	nursing care facility instructor
•	hobby instructor
•	home school tutor
•	wilderness therapy
•	outdoor educator
•	technical trainer
•	corporate trainer

Teachers can also try careers in marketing and fundraising such as Analyst for Development Research and Development Director. In operations, teachers can be Program Officers or work as a Recruitment Manager. Second career teachers might as well benefit from ATC because it can bring fulfillment for them if they did not maximize their potential in their previous teaching career.

There are lots of options to choose from and a variety of career path so you’re your teaching degree will put to work. There are research offices in different schools worldwide which a teacher can apply. Few of them are Harlem Village Academies (NY), Project PAVE (Denver, CO), Oberlin College (Ohio, OH), and more. Most of these alternative jobs offer above minimum wage and opportunities of being promoted into higher administrative positions granted the right career education.
