Recognizing people with their expertise is very admirable for government and private sectors because this is one of the best ways of saying “thank you” to the accomplishments of the person being cited of such award.

Cited by Kilgore College is Bobbie McGree-Benson, Adult Basic Education director and instructor. She was awarded because of her excellent performance in education according to the report. She was crowned this year by the Texas Association of Literacy and Adult Education during the TALAE annual awards night held in Austin.

The awardee has been serving adult education for more than 26 years as Kilgore College director, it was learned. Dr. Julie Fowler, dean of KC said Benson was cited as her position also allowed her to promote success for many students already and this is a very exemplary performance. It was actually the staff of the KC Adult Basic Education who nominated Benson. There were also 54 adult education coop as well as 56 English programs that were all eligible for nomination being members of TALAE.

McGee-Benson said she feels honored the staff of the KC Adult Education nominated her so that she will also get this year’s prestigious award for adult education program. I couldn’t imagine I will be awarded for this,” she said.

She said one of the students of this adult program the school is campaigning is now receiving a $3,200 scholarship privilege being the highest in GED scores, and having the award is a big achievement of the quality adult education program she has also implemented. Just like a student financial aid, this financial support given to said student is enough.

Benson was very proud having awarded the most prestigious award in this part of the country, saying she would not forget this through all her life. “I am proud to be part of this program and I will treasure this,” she said.

The adult education program is free and it holds classes through all the years at KC. This is also the same adult program just like in many schools world wide. The course is also offered in English language being the universal language so that everyone qualifies for this program for adults.
