Two active adult education programs

Adult education is one program of the national government in the US which gives empowerment to adults to learn from school programs or continue their lost education during their younger years, while there are also separate programs for the working adults. The US government has categorized these into working and non-working adult programs.

Computer literacy programs – The computer literacy program is intended for working adults to get updated with the latest trend in information technology. Many adult professionals do not know still how to use even the basic operations in computer. To address this problem, there are now computer literacy programs in the US for the working adults. Although, non-working adults are also encourage to participate in the program. Wikipedia defines adult education as the practice of educating and teaching adults. This means the method of teaching adults can be made in the workplace, secondary schools and even in colleges and universities. Many vocational schools in the US also offer 6 months to one year computer literacy course for students wanting this kind of literacy program in private schools. However, for the poor adults there are also volunteer computer literacy groups who are willing to extend a helping hand. Literacy Florida, Inc, is one of the most active volunteer literacy program implementing agency in the US.

Back to school for high school drop outs – For many high school drop outs in the US, there are also back to school programs to allow them to go back into the mainstream of society by going back to schooling for specialized career building programs. To earn a high school diploma, high school drop outs can take the General Education Development (GED) test. There is the also the ESOL program or English for Speakers of other Languages also known as English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learners (ELL). These are another growing program in the US for adult education.

Other schools also opened night schools to accommodate adult people. It is very common that adults are ashamed they would be integrated into the younger high school students. The program is very successful. In fact, many countries of the world also started their night high classes especially for the working adults to go back to education.
