Adult education gains headway in Alabama School
Adults in Alabama whose age bracket start from 25 years old and above are now benefiting the Adult Degree Program offered by the University of South Alabama. The program is aimed at helping adults finish a degree based on several options.
Based on the program made by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Alabama, adults can choose to earn a flexible degree either online, day and evening classes. Kimberly Davis, academic advisor of the program said adult students are given the chance of designing a program of study leading to Bachelor of Science or Bachelor o Arts degree. Davis said the program would greatly help adults back into the education system and finally earn a degree. The career education, the school believes, is one of the best legacies every adult can get to enjoy rewarding careers in the future.
The schools offers at least 30 academic areas and the students can are allowed to study in a certain area with the supervision of the faculty, as long as the chosen program is duly approved. The education program, Davis said, is now gaining interest among many adults. “Adult students should be given this rare privilege because the school understands their other responsibilities in the family and other obligations such as their work,” she said.
Since the USA opened the program in the past years it had served a total of 1,500 students who graduated. Many are now working while others pursue higher education such as social work, counseling, business and psychology.
Davis added even the assistant head of the fire Mobile chief is a product of the school’s program for adults. “In fact, I was very happy to see a product of our institution now happily working in some big companies in the net. The people should have realized how potential education for the adults should be.
